Meet Misha
The HEART behind it all
You know how you look back and it all makes sense that your life looks this way?
That's the story of flowers and me
Growing up, my stand out memories all include flowers. Iโd watch the way my grandparents, especially my Grandfather- we called him Gran- meticulously cared for their garden, spending hours on their knees or with a little bench pulled up to the flowerbed, pruning or planting or cleaning or clipping. For them, flowers meant love.
On warm summer evenings while my grandma, Manye as she was known to me, finished making dinner, Gran would gather an arm-full of vases and fill them with (name some flowers they had), place them along the dining table, and as I finished setting the table, heโd light long taper candles. Our regular, week-night dinner was instantly transformed into a celebratory occasion.
Flowers, chosen just for you = love.
I never really imagined myself as a Floral Designer. I went to school and was working as a social worker before all of this. Then as I was dreaming of my own wedding back in 2019, a few old classmates were looking for florist suggestions, and as my heart led my hands I typed, โme! :) โ. I had watched my grandparents for years and even worked in a floral shop for a summer and something in me knew before my brain caught on too: Maybe all those flower-filled tables were leading me here the whole time.
That first client said yes. Then another. And another.
Five years and over two hundred clients later, we have what has become Woodland Floral Design- a sustainability-focused, locally-sourcing, widely-abundant-and-intentional-floral-designing wedding company. And in our roots, in our foundation, in our legacy, is the understanding and inherent knowing that flowers = love.
